DGP Mahendar Reddy has released Telangana crime rate 2018 report here at Telangana state police headquarters on Sunday. The Telangana DGP Mahendar Reddy said that they are practicing people-friendly policing since the formation of Telangana. He also said that their aim is to make the state free from crimes. “The Telangana state has witnessed 5 percent decrease in overall crime rate in 2018,” said DGP unveiling the Telangana crime report 2018.

While the murder rate in Telangana decreased to 4 percent, properties disputes reduced to 8 percent. The Chain snatching cases have come down to 43 percent while crime against women slumped to 7 percent. The Hyderabad Cybercrime is reported to have decreased to 3 percent.

The life imprisonment for the accused has risen to 11 percent. Telangana state has seen a 29 percent decrease in robbery cases, 10 percent in a bank robbery, 51 percent in ATM theft, 19 percent in abduction cases. Around 1,02,307 cases were registered in 2018. The report also stated a decrease of 3 percent in the crime against SC and ST, 20, 325 road accidents. The DGP further expressed regret over the honour killings in the state. He said that serious action will be taken on the accused to prevent them from occurring in future.
