The Tamil Nadu government has decided to recommend to the Union government to confer the Bharat Ratna on late Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa.

Tamil Nadu cabinet has taken a resolution to recommend late Jayalalithaa’s name to confer with Bharat Ratna Award.Tamil Nadu cabinet will recommend Jayalalithaa’s name to Union Government. Besides recommending for Bharat Ratna, TN cabinet has also asked Union Government to set up a statue of Jayalalithaa in Parliament.

A memorial for late chief minister Jayalalithaa will also be built in Chennai. The memorial will be built aside late MGR’s memorial in Chennai. These decisions were taken at the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister O Panneerselvam.
Jayalalithaa has a huge following in Tamilians. Tamil Nadu government is taking steps to continue the legacy of Jayalalithaa.The state government further requested the Centre to install a full-sized bronze statue on the Parliament campus. 
Jayalalithaa, 68, was admitted to Chennai’s Apollo Hospitals on September 22 after she complaint of dehydration and fever. Three months later, on December 5, Jayalalithaa died in the hospital, a day after she suffered a massive cardiac arrest. 
Her body was buried beside her mentor and former chief minister MG Ramachandran at Chennai’s Marina Beach, Ramachandran at Chennai’s Marina Beach, MGR memorial. While Jayalalithaa breathed her last on December 5, still Tamil Nadu is grieving for her death.
