Actor Sonu Sood Appointed as State Icon Of Punjab by Election Commission Of India (ECI). The Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) S Karuna Raju, in a statement on Monday, said that his office had sent a proposal to the ECI regarding Sonu Sood‘s appointment and they have approved the same.
Sonu Sood‘s relentless work through the lockdown in helping migrant workers across the country get home safely is not news to the general public anymore. Apart from that, Sonu Sood has also donated food, shelter, and PPE kits to those who need it. That Sonu Sood was named the State Icon, therefore, doesn’t come as a surprise.
Congratulating Sonu Sood on the feat, Governor of Punjab, VP Singh Badnore tweeted, “I congratulate @SonuSood the youth icon, appointed as the State icon by the #ECI to make people aware about ethical voting. Your efforts during the trying time of the #Covid situation are widely appreciated. #GodBless (sic). ” and Sonu Sood responded saying, “Thank you so much for your encouraging words, sir. It’s been an honour that cannot be expressed in words. Humbled (sic).”

Sonu Sood may be known for his negative roles on screen, off it, he is referred to as the Messiah. But the actor Sonu Sood doesn’t like this moniker. In fact, his autobiography, I Am No Messiah, will address the same. “People have been very kind and have lovingly named me Messiah. But I really do believe that I am no Messiah. I simply do what my heart tells me to.
It is our responsibility as human beings to be compassionate and help each other,” Sonu Sood had said while talking about his upcoming book. To be published by Penguin Random House India and set to release in December this year, the book will share anecdotes, stories, and the emotional and challenging journey Sonu Sood undertook at the time of the novel coronavirus induced lockdown.
