After SHE Teams, next in line to ensure the safety of women in Hyderabad is SHE Patrol teams. Following the recent incidents of crimes against women reported across the city, the Rachakonda Police plan to introduce SHE Patrol teams for the safety and security of women across the Commissionerate. These teams, consisting of SHE Teams personnel, will patrol secluded areas, crime hotspots, and highways, among various other places. The initiative will be under the aegis of the Rachakonda SHE Teams officials and will function under the direct supervision of Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat.
According to sources, from now on, SHE Teams, which usually keep a check on women harassment cases, will also patrol all of Outer Ring Road, main roads, highways, toll plazas and other crime-prone areas in the commissionerate limits. “This service will be available round the clock and the prime focus would be on crime-prone areas during odd hours of the day,” a senior official said.
For now, the initiative will be kicked off with a basic plan and limited force. Depending on the outcome and feedback, improvements will be made. The She team, which will mainly comprise women police personnel, are likely to work in shifts.
The She team, which are to be equipped with vehicles, either a patrol mobile or motorcycle or both, operate in two shifts. In most cases, patrol teams attend to calls and complaints on women-related issues such as harassment and $exual assault, apart from family disputes, fights between women in residential colonies and so on.
