Netflix Testing EXTRAS Feed tab in its mobile app on Android and iOS, Now, new reports suggest that Netflix has started testing a dedicated Extras feed Feature that will aggregate photos, videos, Trailers, and alerts for upcoming shows in an Instagram-like fashion. Netflix has started testing a new feed called ‘Extras’ in its app with a closed group of users. The Netflix Tests EXTRAS scrollable Feed Feature looks and functions similar to Instagram feed where users can see trailers, photos, movies, alerts for upcoming shows and more.

The photos in the feed can be scrolled horizontally and the videos in the feed will play automatically, without sound. The trailers don’t play in full-length, and users have to click through to a show. If this sounds familiar, the working is similar to Instagram’s feed and also YouTube’s ‘Autoplay on Home’ feature. The Extras scrollable feed also recommends users to share the recommended shows, photos, etc. through third-party apps and also add titles to their list. The feed can be accessed by a dedicated button and it does not replace any of the app’s other elements.

Commenting on this, a spokesperson from Netflix said: We are testing a feed of video extras in our mobile app to help fans connect more deeply with the titles they love and discover new ones to watch. These tests typically vary in length of time and by region, and may not become permanent.
