Online Video Streaming services Netflix introduced new additions like weekly subscription plans, high-quality audio for TV viewers and more. Now, Netflix company has been spotted testing a new pop-out floating player for desktop that will allow users to stream videos in a picture-in-picture mode on their computer. Netflix Pop-out Floating Video Player will hover as a small floating box above other windows and the users can simply click the small icon on the bottom to activate it.

Once the content is playing in the pop-out player, the main window will tell you that your pop-out player is currently working and to switch back to the main window you’ll have to click on ‘Watch Here’. Netflix Pop-out Floating Video Player doesn’t use the native picture-in-picture mode offered by Safari or Google Chrome. (Netflix Smart Downloads)

It is resizable and can be positioned wherever the user likes it to be, but subtitles don’t work with this feature as of now. The Netflix picture-in-picture mode is available on iOS and Android and Netflix could easily integrate the feature, but the company instead is choosing to develop its own feature in part likely for copyright protection. As of now, only a few users were able to use this feature in desktop as it is still under internal testing and Netflix is expected to make this feature available to all users.
