Union Home Minister Amit Shah tests positive for COVID-19, the minister Amit Shah tweeted on Sunday afternoon. He said he is getting admitted to a hospital on the advice of doctors. Taking to Twitter, Amit Shah requested those who had come in his contact to isolate themselves and get tested.

“On getting the initial symptoms of the corona, I got the test done and the report came back positive. My health is fine, but I am being admitted to the hospital on the advice of doctors,” the minister’s tweet in Hindi roughly said.

Meanwhile, a team of doctors, led by AIIMS Director Dr. Randeep Guleria, is likely to visit Medanta hospital (in Gurugram) to see Union Home Minister Amit Shah, for COVID-19 treatment, Sources at AIIMS confirmed to news agency ANI.

The 55-year-old home minister Amit Shah has been admitted to a room on the 14th floor of the Medanta Hospital and is under Dr. Sushil Kataria’s observation. His oxygen levels are currently being monitored.

On the other hand, Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit tested positive for COVID-19. He is asymptomatic and clinically stable. As the infection is mild, he has been advised home isolation and will be monitored by the medical team of Kauvery Hospital, Kauvery Hospital, Chennai informed.

Coronavirus cases in India touched 17 lakh-mark as the country recorded over 54,700 cases in a span of 24 hours. Meanwhile, Delhi now stands at the 12th position among the various states and union territories in the country in terms of active cases of Covid-19.
