Google has announced the launch of a new initiative Google News Showcase in India for the Google News App. Through the initiative, Google is aiming to provide the top 30 news organizations in India with a new way of interacting and engaging with readers in India in compelling ways through the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and beyond.

Google News Showcase in India is a new online experience and licensing program, which will allow news organizations to curate high-quality news content and display them on the Google News App. The aim behind this initiative is to create a better connection between newsreaders and news publications. These curated high-quality news content will appear as panels on both Google News and Discover platforms in India.
Google News Showcase in India with Top 30 News Publishers:
Google will also pay participating news organizations to give readers access to a limited amount of paywalled content, with the hopes of encouraging readers to subscribe to that particular news publication on Google News App. Google News Showcase in India will show curated content from Top 30 news publishers including national, regional, and local news organizations such as ABP LIVE, India TV, NDTV, Zee News, The Hindu Group, The Hans India, India Today Group, HT Digital Streams Ltd, Indian Express Group, Reuters, Amar Ujala, Deccan Herald, Punjab Kesari, The Telegraph India, IANS, ANI.
The Google News Showcase in India feature will first roll out with support for content in English and Hindi languages. Google News is planning to bring support for more Indian languages will soon.
