CBSE UGC NET 2017: The Official Notification for National Eligibility Test 2017 (NET) has been released. NET is being conducted to select candidates for teaching and research in humanities and social sciences subjects every year.

CBSE UGC NET 2017 Apply Online @ cbsenet.nic.in :

NET will be held on January 22, 2017 in 90 cities all over India. The process of applying for NET has started from October 17,2016. November 16 is the last date for online applying for NET 2017. Applicants can pay fee through e-challan, debit or credit cards.
The NET applications are available on official website cbsenet.nic.in Students should have 55 percentage of marks in their post graduation to take NET. In case of OBC, SC, ST, PHC it is 50 percentage of marks in PG.While NET will be held in Hyderabad and Warangal in Telangana state, it will be held in Guntur, Tirupati and Vishakapatnam cities in AP.

  • Start of Online Application: 17th October 2016
  • Last Date to Apply: 16th November 2016

Eligibility Criteria:
The candidates should have acquired a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university or institute. The candidates who have appeared or will be appearing in the final year or whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test.

Age Limit:
Junior Research Fellowship: Not more than 28 years as on 01.12.2015. Age relaxation will be applicable as per rules.
Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit for applying for eligibility for Assistant Professor.
Application Fee: Candidates belonging to the General Category should pay Rs.600/-, for Other Backward Classes (Non-creamy layer), fee is Rs. 300/- and for SC/ST/PWD it is 150/-

Selection Process: Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in all the three papers which consist of only objective type questions.Further, the candidates who get qualified for the award of Junior Research Fellowship are eligible to pursue research in the subject during post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Assistant Professor post.

NET Examination Pattern:


Paper 1: It consists of 60 questions out of which 50 questions should be attempted. It will carry a total of 100 marks and the duration of the exam is 90 minutes.
Paper 2: This paper will have 50 questions (all are compulsory). It will carry a total of 100 marks and the duration is 90 minutes.
Paper 3: It consists of 75 questions (all are compulsory). It will carry a total of 150 marks. The duration of the exam is two and half hours.
