Telangana state government has set up an Assets Protection Cell aimed at encouraging people to inform the government about encroachments of parks, water bodies, and open lands belonging in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits was formally launched by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister, KT Rama Rao here on Sunday.

To enable this unique initiative, the GHMC’s Enforcement Vigilance and Disaster Management (EVDM) unit has set up a special Assets Protection Cell and has been provided the toll-free number 1800-599-0099 for the citizens to call and register their complaints. The Minister called upon the citizens to join hands with the government in protecting water bodies, parks, and open spaces in the city.

Every call or complaint with information related to encroachment of lakes, parks and open spaces, made to the Assets Protection Cell on the toll-free number will be registered and assigned a unique number which will help in tracking the progress and action taken on the complaint, a press release said.

The complaint and the unique complaint number gets assigned to the Assistant Enforcement Officer (AEO) of EVDM Directorate of the respective circle/zones immediately. The AEO who receives the complaint will call the complainant for further details, if required, and commence the enquiry.

The Telangana citizens who give the complaint can either provide their details or prefer to remain anonymous. The details of the complainant will not be revealed. The Parks, Lakes & Open Spaces Protection Cell (Assets Protection Cell Hyderabad) will be working from 10 am to 6 pm on all working days, the press release added.
