Apple Find My Network is a system that helps Apple users locate their devices if they get misplaced or stolen. The system was previously only designed for Apple devices, but Apple released a new update to the Apple Find My app today that allows third-party devices to also use the network via the Find My network accessory program.

The Apple Find My network accessory program will be a part of the Made for iPhone (MFi) program and will help third-party accessory developers design and make devices that can use the finding capabilities of Apple’s Find My network. These accessories will be required to gain approval from Apple and will also feature a “Works with Apple Find My” badge to let users know.

The first set of devices that will use the Apple Find My network are VanMoof’s latest S3 and X3 e-bikes, Belkin’s SOUND FORM Freedom True Wireless Earbuds, and the Chipolo ONE Spot item finder. These devices will be available starting next week.

Along with this announcement, Apple is also releasing the draft specifications for chipset manufacturers to use ultra-wideband technology in Apple devices that are equipped with the U1 chip. This technology should help create devices that have precise spatial accuracy and directionality.
